Celeste Romero
Is a Honduran and Dominican artist born in 2003. Romero makes work to explore and navigate their relationships with loved ones and the effect that society has on them. They use family and friends to model the idea of self, Romero acknowledges that we are an accumulation of the people we love and deeply knowing them is as important as knowing yourself.
Through portraiture and video, Romero strives to express feelings and moments experienced by black and brown POC in America, as well as the female experience. Romero's main motivator for their work is to show people how they see their own family and friends and the complexities around them, in an attempt to encourage change in thought for the viewer.
